"I don't think the wounds are major enough to require medical attention Astrid but I can tell you are bothered by them. If it would help console you in any way I shall be more than happy to take my shirt off," he stated with a smirk.
He pulled the shirt up over his head, revealing a toned torso underneath. His abdominal muscles expanded and contracted with each breath. He held the shirt in one hand in a clump as he watched her face.
"A few scratches hardly worth worrying over," he remarked as he watched her. "Give 'em a few days and they shall heal naturally."
He paused and turned to the king.
"I am certainly glad that we managed to make it to you in time your highness. Just wish it was earlier before they could inflict those wounds on you. I hope you're not in too terrible of pain due to our dilly-dallying?"

She knew that he was right but she was unable to help herself. She moved behind him and looked him over. She cleaned some of his cuts and took a step away. "Sorry I can't help but to worry you know." she said with a small nervous laugh. She couldn't help but look away from him. The way his body curved and the way he looked she couldn't help but want him. He just looked so good it made every nerve in her body scream.
"Not at all. I have been through a lot worse." he said with a low chuckle as he stood up. He felt Astrid's arm on his and he pat her head. "Darling why don't you bring Archon to his room. I am just going to head to bed." he explained as one of the doctors walked in.
"Well looks like Astrid, my little mini me, took care of you my king. She's getting rather good isn't she." he said with a chuckle. "Lets get you up to your room. You need to rest. And no, you will be taking the day off tomorrow as well." he pushed as they started out of the room.
Astrid looked back at Archon and smiled softly. "Well, let me show you to one of the spare rooms." she said as she held out her hand. Even though it wasn't really meant to help him up it was more of a come with me gesture. "I hope you will like it here." she said with a smile.

"None the less I apologize your highness."
Just as he finished his apology the doctor came in and spoke. Archon couldn't help but smirk at the scene as if the doctor and the king were a married couple arguing. When Astrid spoke he turned to gaze directly at her. His eyes seemed to course with energy as he smiled and took her hand.
"Lead the way," he stated as he followed her to the door.
Before leaving the room he turned back to Alan.
"You going to be alright? You didn't get hurt during the ruckus did you?"

She looked back at him and smiled as they had made it half way there already. The walls were littered with paintings and torches. The light seemed to dance around bouncing off the walls. Armor stood tall at random corners of the hall as if there were ppl there to protect the halls. She smiled before stopping at one of the doors.
"I am alright. I wasn't hurt to bad." She explained as she grabbed one of the torches and opened the door. She walked in the room illuminating the large room. It had everything you would expect a room in the kingdom to have. The large king side bed, a large wardrobe that marched the dresser the night stand n the table that sat towards the enterance of the room. It had a couple of plants and a book shelf that sat near a walk out balcony.
"This is my favorite room to hangout in when I'm not working." She explained as she walked over to the fireplace n threw in a couple logs before starting it. "I hope u enjoy it." She said with a smile. She couldn't wait till she could sleep though.

"I'm glad to hear that you weren't injured."
He looked around the room in awe.
"This room is too grand for someone as humble as I. Did a prince used to live here or something?"
He smiled when she told him that this was her favorite room to hang out in when she had no duties.
"Thank you for the fire. It seems I should be seeing you quite often then in my temporary personal quarters."
Something was off-putting about the room to him. It was like he had a faint feeling of familiarity with it but he had no idea why. As far as he could remember he never had stayed in such a grand place. The entirety of his life that he could remember was at the hero academy.

"Yes, the king had a son once. When he lost him, or i should say when he was kidnapped, the king went into a spiraling depression. That's when I came in. My mom was interviewing to be a maid and I ran right up to him and acted like any little kid trying to cheer him up." she said with a small chuckle as she put her arms around her back and smiled. "He has taken care of my family since then. He is rather kind like that. So I help him in any way that I can." she explained as she moved away from the fire and over to the bed. She pulled down the cover sheet and then put the decrative pillows onto a chair as before pulling the sheets down. "You are just like the prince and for what you did you will get treated like one." she explained as she took a step away from the bed and smiled. "If you need anything I am right down the hall. Just call." she explained as she walked over to the dresser and pulled out some of the kings old cloths. "He seems to come in here every so often with cloths that he believes that he would be wearing at this point in his life. It makes him happy. And I think you staying here would make him even happier." she said as she walked over to the door. "See you at breakfast." she told him as she walked out the door.
She hesitated slightly before she relaxed. Her body was so sore she was surprised that she was even able to move at this point. She walked down a couple doors and opened the door. She let it close on its own as she whimpered. She struggled slightly as she unzipped her dress. She let if fall to the ground. Underneath laid a small pair of white underwear and a bra that smooshed her boobs down. She didn't like the attention she got. She slowly made her way over to the mirror. She looked her body over and sighed. She was covered in bruises and she knew that she had a broken rib in there but at least she wasn't hurt that bad. This was nothing compared to what they had to go through. She was strong enough. She hesitated slightly before she moved over to the bed. She was barely able to pull the blankets over her before she passed out.

"I am just like the prince? That's the first time anyone has said anything like that to me. I didn't do much." he responded to each of her statements.
He was slightly embarassed about being treated so royally. He wasn't used to it at all and it made him feel slightly uncomfortable but he was sure that they king would insist and who was he to defy royalty?
"I will," he stated as she prepared to exit the room.
As soon as she was out of the room he let go of a sigh he was holding in.
"Never thought I'd be staying in a place like this," he mumbled. "Hope I can sleep on something so regal and padded."
He looked over on top of the dresser to notice a small bowl with a pitcher of water. He undressed and carefully cleaned himself with the water before pulling out an outfit from one of the drawers. He left his clothes in a neat heap next to the dresser before setting his sword down next to him on the bed and laying down himself.
"Me a regal? Yeah right," he mumbled as he began to nod off.
The next morning he awoke to a knock at the door. He sat up in the bed fast, having forgotten where he was. He had his sword drawn and aimed threateningly at the door until he realized that noone had barged in and he recalled where he was. When the knock came again he called through the door as he sheathed his sword "Come in."
He stretched and got up out of the bed, not letting down his guard yet until he saw for himself who was at the door.

Alan was standing at the door with a huge smile on his face. "Good morning Archon. How are you feeling after yesterday? The king is doing great and he is up in the dining hall waiting for u two to get there. The king thought it weird the two of u hadn't joined yet so he sent Me to get you and Astrid. When ever you are ready meet us there." He explained before he walked down the hall two doors and knocked a couple times. "Astrid? Are you up?" He called a couple times after knocking a few times.
When she didn't answer he turned the handle to see if the door was open. When he pushed the door it swung open and he looked in to see was laid out on the bed with the blanket half over her. He smiled sadly and walked in closing the door behind him. "You really should cover it self if u plan on sleeping. You could get sick." He said even though he knew she couldn't hear him. He knew she would b tired after what happened yesterday. He picked up the blanket and moved it slightly away so he could check her over. She was really be used and it looked like her rib might b broken as well but she was sleeping fine so he wasn't worried. He lifted her up and set her more on the pillow. He pulled the blanket back over her body and kissed her forehead before walking back over to the door. He walked out and back to the king.
"Archon will b here shortly but Astrid is still rather tired. She will join us later." He said as he pulled the chair out and sat down.

Archon had washed up and changed again before making his way to the dining hall. He bowed before taking a seat at the table.
"Good morning your highness. Did you need my assistance with anything today? I only planned on checking on Astrid after our meal."

Astrid whimpered softly as she started to wake up. Her body screamed as she sat up but it didn't bother her too much. She noticed that she was dressed a bit more and her bruises were better too. She smiled as she stood up then crashed right to the ground. She blinked a couple times then laughed. She stood up then walked to her dresser. She grabbed her cloths and dressed herself slowly. It was hard but it was fine. She didn't want people to worry about her. She was just feeling sore so she knew that she would be fine.
She walked out the door and down the hall looking for everyone. She wondered what everyone was up to.

The three of them sat to eat and enjoyed their breakfast together, discussing plans to get revenge against the bandit brigade that had attempted to take over the kingdom and abused the people and the king himself. The three kept growing in excitement the more they talked about until they were like little boys haveing a play date.
When Astrid finally walked in however, Archon turned his attention to her immediately. he could tell that she was holding her body slightly rigid and he assumed out of pain. He stood and offered her his seat.
"Please lady Astrid, take my seat and eat some breakfast. It's quite delicious and you will need it. Was there anything you would like help with today?"

Astrid looked at him with a smile as she gently took hold of his arm and then kept on walking. "I am alright. I just wanted to see how everyone was doing." she told him as she moved her hand off of his and made her way towards Alan and the king. "Good morning my king. How are you?" she asked as she bent down slightly and kissed his check.
"Alan had just explained that you weren't feeling well. I didn't expect to see you till later." the king said as he gently touched her cheek. "You don't look well Astrid. Sit, lets eat and today I better not see you working this week. You better relax with the guys today." the king said in his ordering voice. She knew when he was like this there would be no fighting with him. She nodded as she sat down next to Archon with a sigh. She wasn't sure what the three of them would be able to do but she knew that she didn't want to upset the king.

Archon turned to the king.
"If it would please you sire and Lady Astrid I am from humble birth. The least I could do for the fine lodging and meal would be to complete Astrid's chores for her until she is well again? I am used to working for what I receive and it doesn't sit right with me, no offense your majesty, but to do nothing like some spoiled aristocrat. I am like you your highness. I prefer to be kept busy so that the day will go by quicker."
He bowed to the king as well as Astrid.
"If you wouldn't mind showing me around so that I don't get lost however it would be greatly appreciated Astrid."

"No, no one is working today. You all did such a great job. How about you and Alan go look at the town. I want astrid back in bed." He explained as he stood up from his seat. I will not take no for an answer either. You all should be resting. The kingdom will b here tomorrow." The king said with a sigh. He was grateful they wanted to help but at the same time it was his own responsibility. They were guests now, and astrid looked so tired he wanted to take care of her now.
With a sigh Alan stood up from his seat and smiled. "Archon why not take Astrid to her room and then we can meet in an hour by the stables and take a trip down into town to see if we can't help down there for a little bit." He said as he smiled at the two. "I am going to get lost in the castle for a while." He said with a chuckle before he left.

Archon gave a bow to the king once again.
"Apologies your highness. I did not mean to upset you. I would however insist that I stay by Astrid's side until she goes back to bed? I would like to ensure that she gets plenty of rest and does not risk injuring herself further by walking on her own. I wouldn't be able to enjoy your fair city if I had to worry about her."
He smiled nervously towards the king, hoping that this man that he had barely met yesterday would be kind enough to grant him his one request. When Alan spoke up Archon nodded at the mage's suggestion.
"Sounds like a plan," he stated as Alan left and then Archon stood from his place setting and stood behind Astrid.

Astrid whimpered softly. She didn't understand why they were making such a big fuss over the fact that she was so tired. It had been a long day yesterday. With a soft sigh she stood up from her seat and made her way over to the kings side. "You worry as much as a father would. I am fine to keep up with my duties but won't go against you. I will rest for the day and return to my duties tomorrow." She told him as she leaned down slowly and kisses his cheek. "Thank you so much for caring about me." She told him as she stepped back from him and looked back at archon with a smile. "Thank you too." She told him as she started back towards the door. She kept her head up as she walked down towards the door.
"Sorry to bother you with my problems." She said as they neared her door. She stopped and turned around. Exhaustion was written all over her face as she turned the handle and opened the door. It swung open slowly and she took a couple steps in. She hesitated slightly and sat down on the bed. She felt slightly better sitting in her bed. It was very hard to relax with the pain she felt. "Can u do me a favor and get the medicine that is sitting on that table?" She asked him as she took off one of her shirts. Her pajamas were under her cloths because she was to tired to take them off.

Archon bowed to the king before leaving the room with her.
"You're welcome Astri," he called her, giving her a nickname.
He followed her into her room and watched as she carefully removed one of her shirts and sat down on her bed. He retrieved the medicine for her when she asked and was careful not to make her reach for it. He sat down slowly next to her not wanting to make the bed bounce and cause her discomfort. He began to get nervous so he looked down at his lap and twiddled his thumbs.
"That king sure is one lucky guy to have you," he stated.
He was embarassed. She was his first friend and he liked her. He was a little bit jealous of the king that he got a kiss as well. He had never been kissed but was told that it was a wonderful thing. He didn't want to take care of her just for something as selfish as wanting a kiss however. His training at the academy taught him that it was wrong. That a hero was supposed to be selfless and self-sacrificing.

Astrid slowly opened the bottle and popped one of the pills. It was like advil or something that would help with the pain. Her body felt so heavy and before she knew it her body had fallen back onto the bed. She staired up at the ceiling as she thought of everything that had happened the last couple of days. For some reason it was getting hard for her to understand what was going on. It was like she was in a fog and could feel what was going on but her brain couldn't processes it in the slightest. She tried to move but after a couple tries she gave up. She tilted her head towards him and could see that something was bothering him. She studied him the best she could before she smiled slightly. "Don't worry, I can be yours too." she said without thinking. Her eyes slipped closed after that and she passed out. Her body shivered slightly unable to hide the way her body was feeling anymore.
There was a soft knock on the door before Alan and a doctor walked in. "Sorry, I don't mean to in-" he stopped when he saw that she was alseep. He frowned slightly and stepped more into the room and closed the door. "There might not be anything wrong but I just want him to check her over. I figured we would have to fight but since she has fallen asleep there wont be much fighting." he said with a soft laugh. He noticed the pills on the floor and picked them up before putting it back on the night stand. "Can you help me get her more on the bed?" he questioned as he stood on the one side. He put one hand under her back and the other under he leg.
The doctor didn't like how pale she was. He dug through his back and when they were done moving her, he got to work. He was very dehidrated and besides the broken ribs and various other cracked bones there wasn't much else. He couldn't believe she was able to stand up right. Her body must have been killing her just to move out of the bed. He knew she was stubborn but damn he couldn't believe it. "After she wakes up make sure she gets lots of food and water. She has a couple cracks in her bones in her left arm and a rib that might be broken on her left side. Was she beaten or something? Cause it sure seems that way. Try and keep her still for a couple weeks, well if you can." he said realizing who he was talking about.
"Is it really that bad? She was moving fine, she just seemed really tired." Alan asked worrying now.
"Yeah, there is something you have to realize about her. Even if she gets a finger cut off, she will try to finish the work she is doing before getting it fixed. Try not to worry to much. But when she wakes up I want to give her a full examination to make sure nothing else is wrong with her. I know what happened and want to make sure that she doesn't have those monsters baby in her." he said as his face got cold real fast. The doctor left after that.

Archon was more worried than before now as he looked down at Astrid and saw her sleeping. According to what the doctor stated she was in very bad shape. He would have to do his absolute best to ensure that she kept as still as possible for the next week or two at least. He knew he had to do something that she wouldn't like but it was necessary.
Archon stood slowly from the bed and bowed to the king.
"I fought along side her your majesty and failed to protect her. Allow me to earn retribution by assuming the mantle of her duties please? If the physician demands she be kept still then it would be in her best interest if we ensure that there is no work for her to do. I may not be as skilled as her when it come to cleaning but I am a quick learner and a hard worker."

The king shook his head. "No, you are not going to do servant work. I told you what you and Alan will go into work in the town. The doctor will watch her for the next couple of days. You can check on her when you are done with the work in the town." he said as he stood up from his seat. "Why don't you two go down now, you can returned in a couple hours." he said as he walked over to him and smiled. "I'm sure Astrid would be mad if she found out that you were doing your work. We have to get the town back in order. I'm sure that there are people down there that need our help as well." he said as he let his hand fall on his shoulder. Alan nodded with what the king was saying.
"Of course my king." Alan said.
Astrid slowly started to wake up. Her body was starting to hurt again. The doctor walked in and frowned slightly as he noticed she was waking up. "Morning lady Astrid. How are you feeling. You have a couple broken and cracked bones. I want to do a couple more test to make sure nothing else is wrong. It might hurt but I just want you to bear with it and then we can put you back to sleep." he said as he got to work. After a cople of hours he got what he needed but Astrid wasn't going back to sleep. She was being a little stubborn kid trying to get out of bed. "Lady Astrid, stop it. You need to stay in bed."
"No, I want to get out of my room." she said. Since she was feeling better she wanted to get out of the room.
"Okay, when the boys get back you can be moved to another room, where ever you want. But please just stop. You need to rest." he said. He was able to put a cast on her left arm. But there was nothing he could do about the rib.
"Okay...." she said softly.
"Take these. It will help the pain and help you sleep." the doctor said as he help her take the pills. It didn't take that long for her to fall asleep.

Archon gave a slight bow to the king, conceding to his majesty.
"As you wish your majesty," he replied with the bow. "Alan and I will gladly assist the people in town."
He turned to Astrid before she fell asleep and with a smile he spoke.
"Get some more rest Astri. Your body needs time to heal. Take it easy. King's, friends', and doctor's orders."
With that he followed Alan out of the room and castle into the town to go around asking people if they needed any assistance or odd jobs performed. It certainly kept them busy til the evening when they returned to the castle.

Astrid slept through the whole day. The doctor randomly checked on her through out the day before he returned to his other patients. Astrid was finally relaxed and a bit happier then before. She was glad everything was turning out alright and things were going back to normal. When she woke up her body felt really stiff. She looked around the room and it was dark. She looked down at herself and saw a cast on her arm and a wrap around her chest. "Oh... ooops." she said with a soft giggle that ended up just hurting her more. She hesitated before she turned on her side and slid her legs off the bed using it to sit up. She adjusted herself and leaned forward and lit a candle that sat next to her bed. She stood up as Alan walked into the room.
"Astrid..." he started as he rushed forward and took the candle out of her hand. "Get back in bed." he said as he set the small candle down on the night stand and into the container. Astrid hadn't realized that she had just picked up the candle itself and was getting hot wax all over her fingers. He gently pushed her back onto the bed and took a hold of her hand. "You shouldn't get out of bed. With the pain meds the doctor gave you its going to make things feel weird for a while." he explained trying to get her to understand.
"Oh... Im sorry. I was just a little hungry. I didn't want to bother anyone so I figured I would go to the kitchen. I don't even know what point of the day it is either." she said as she watched him pick the wax off of her fingers. "Sorry to bother you." she said with a small frown.
"Your not. Its only a little after dinner. Archon is getting washed up and he will be spending the night with you. We aren't sure what effect the meds will have so the doctor wanted you to be watched tonight.
"Sorry..." she said as she started to leaned forward. Alan put his hands on her shoulders to steady her before her eyes closed.
"Its okay, just lay down." he said as he gently laid her down on the pillow then pulled the blankets over her. "He will be in here shortly. I will ask him to bring in some food for you." he said before he left.

Archon and Alan had returned from the castle not long ago and the first thing Archon wanted to do was to clean himself up since he had been working up a sweat and getting dirty all afternoon by doing all of the odd jobs he could complete to preoccupy himself. As soon as he was clean he dried himself off and got dressed in clothes that he found in his dresser. He made his way out into the hall to make his way towards Astrid's room but he was intercepted by Alan.
"Astrid is hungry my friend. I told her that I would ask you to bring her some food. Go to the kitchen please and get something alright?"
With a nod Archon rushed off to the kitchen and asked the chefs to prepare a meal for two, one with a tray. He made his way to Astrid's room and set the tray on her bed slowly and smiled down at her.
"Hey there Astri. I got you some food. Alan told me you were hungry so I had the chefs prepare you some dinner. Mine should be coming shortly so do not concern yourself over me."
He helped her sit up a little, propping her with pillows so that she could see her meal. Because her arm was in a cast he began feeding her carefully to make it easy on her.
"I hope you don't find my assistance patronizing Astri. I just figured it would be difficult to grip things in a cast."

Astrid looked up at him as he walked into the room. She noticed the tray that was in his hands. She watched as he walked over the bed and she was grateful that he had helped her up. It was hard to use the muscles in her chest because of the cracked ribs. With a soft smile she said "Thank you. I am very hungry. I am not sure the last time I got to eat something. With everything that had happened I guess that was the last thing on my mind." before he started to feed her. She ate a couple bites before she pulled her head away and looked at the drink. "Its alright. I don't mind the help. At this point everything hurts including just chewing. But there's not much I can do about that." she said with a slight chuckle. She sniffled slightly as she relaxed slowly into the pillows that laid behind her. She enjoyed every bit that he fed her. It felt like she hadn't eaten in weeks with how good it tasted.
When it was all gone she was over stuffed. It was slightly uncomfortable but she didn't want to burp in front of him. It wasn't very lady like. With a soft sigh she leaned her head back against the head board. "Thank you." she said as she turned her head towards him.
The doctor walked in and smiled. "Glad you got some food in your stomach. I brought your meds. This will help with the pain but it will probably knock you out though." The doctor explained as he walked over to the bed with the pills. "How are you feeling Archon?" he asked wanting to make sure that he was feeling alright. He handed her the pills and after she put them in her mouth she took a sip of water and swallowed.

"I'm perfectly healthy doctor. I wont be one hundred percent until Astrid is in good health again."
"I understand m'boy but it's not going to do you any good to wait by her bedside day and night. Best to do as the king demands and perform odd jobs around the town to pass the time. She will take time to heal."
"I suppose you are correct doctor. I just carry a guilt with me for not being able to protect her. I am not a cheovenist in the least but I'm the one training at the academy of heroes. I should have been able to siege the castle and protect her from this much harm. The fact that there are more of those cretins out there enfuriates me to no end."
"When travelling down the road towards vengeance do you know what is required son?"
"A philosophical question? I was never interested in philosophy."
"Two caskets. One for your enemy but the other one is for you. Because even after you kill that enemy. There will be others and eventually one of them will get the better of you. Perhaps even one could be looking for vengeance for their fallen comrade that you slayed."
"So you're saying if I finish off these criminals that eventually it will lead to my demise."
"Not necessarily m'boy. Nothing about your future is set in stone. It is all according to the whims of the fates and the decisions you make with every situation you come to."
