Archon made his way about town running a few errands for his parents. He had to walk beside an ass that was pulling a cart full of products that his father had crafted for people that had already paid in advance. He had to hurry too because if he didn't he would be late for his school that is parents struggled to pay the tuition for. He seemed to have a knack for sword fighting but like everyone else in the class it was academics that challenged him.
The gods of this world had blessed him with moderate intelligence so he was doing average in all of is classes except dueling. In this class he exceeded expectations and it was predicted that he would be a great soldier, if not a commander once he finished school.
It was a beautifully sunny day as the mule tugged around the wares for him to deliver. The stubborn creature was old and wouldn't rush for anyone. Still Archon was a quiet boy and knew that there was no use in trying to rush the animal. He made the three deliveries as fast as he could with the donkey before turning it around to make their way back home.
"Look who it is! It's Archon the king of sword! oOo don't accidentally run me through Archie."
He looked up to see one of his classmates standing with two of his friends making faces at him and threatening to throw rocks at the mule. Archon couldn't let that happen. He stopped the beast and chocked the wheels before turning to the bully.
"Don't," was all he said.
"What's wrong retard? Can't you say more than one word answers??"
the bully threw the stone and hit the donkey in the ass. The beast breighed and reared before taking off. Archon ran after the animal and finally managed to reign him in just before reaching home. One of these days he would have to teach Archeus a lesson in humility and compassion for animals. Today wasn't that day though. He had to hurry and clean up, stable Isaiah the donkey and put away the cart before hurrying to school.
He stabled Isaiah and fed the donkey before heading into the house and telling his father the deliveries were finished. He then rushed upstairs to wash up. After he was clean he changed and tied his sword to his waist before running off to the school.
Once at school the bullying commenced. Coming around a corner in a hurry he didn't notice Archeus had stuck his leg out to trip him. Archon landed flat on his face and everyone that saw it laughed as he stood himself up, dusted himself off, glared defiantly at Archeus before making his way to class. The jerk wasn't worth getting expelled.
A wise atlantean had once said "Just because you can doesn't mean you should." It was words that Archon tried his best to live by. Supposedly the prophet was the son of the Destroyer goddess Apollymi. She was the last remaining deity of his pantheon so it was to her he prayed when he needed something. She was benevolent at best and merciless at her worst. Being she was trapped in the atlantean hell realm he could understand.
There was no love lost between him and his pantheon. Out of fear they had intended to do the unthinkable and kill an innocent baby of Apollymi's. The only thing he regretted is that in all the years of his life, he never met a Charonte demon that were created by his pantheon.
He was pulled out of his thoughts as he stepped into the homeroom and saw the girl he had a crush on. She was so beautiful that she had to be part nymph or a daughter of Aphrodite herself. She had gorgeous blonde locks that came down in waves to her shoulder blades and piercing hazel eyes that even Artemis would envy.

Astrid let a soft sigh slip through her lips as she lifted her hand and wiped the sweat from her brow. Today had been yet another busy day at the castle. The king was away on business and she was trying to help keep up on the house work. Even though the king didn't want her too do these kinds of chores she couldn't help but to want to make him happy or try to take care of him. He had done so much for her in her life. From as far back as she could remember he was taking care of her. She could tell he didn't want her as a daughter but at the same time he treated her as such. She didn't understand it, but she wouldn't complain. That wasn't the type of person that she was. It was towards the afternoon that she noticed that the kingdoms bells were going off. It startled her. She quickly but her things down and ran to the closest window. Her breath caught as she saw fire and sparks fill the air as people yells and cries fell to her ears. She didn't know what to do but she knew that she had to find a way to get away. She was grateful that the king was gone but at the same time she knew that she had to tell him not to come home. But how? She had no idea where he was. She quickly took off her apron before she ran down the hall. She was about to turn to the exit but found it was blocked. She quickly ran the other way but learned that the castle was infested with the enemy. She let a soft scream leave her lips as she felt one man's hand wrap around her arm. She struggled against the grip but soon found that he was too strong and was knocked unconscious. As she slowly became aware of her surroundings she could feel the itch of the grass underneath her. She felt the chill in the air and shivered agaisnt it as her eyes slowly opened up. She first noticed how dark it was and the fact that she was in unfamiliar territory. She lifted her body off the ground and saw her cloths were ripped and a frown appeared on her face. She saw cuts and marks all over her body. With a soft sigh she began to take in more of her surroundings as she stood up. She was still rather confused and was scared because of the fact that she didn't know where she was. She didn't know what direction she was to head in either. She could tell it was no where that she had ever seen before. It couldn't be anywhere near her home. Her frown only deepened as she walked down towards a town. It must have been late into the night because no one was on the streets. She was grateful for that because she didn't look that great. She looked about till she saw a house with some cloths on a line. She looked around before she quickly grabbed a shirt and a pair of shorts before she ran to get make sure she wasn't caught. She slipped into the cloths before she walked to what looked like it might be a park. She sat on a bench. She was feeling rather drained and couldn't fight her eyes falling closed. Once again she was asleep.

During his lunch break Archon maintained a distance from his classmates. It was fine with him that none of them seemed to want to get too close to him like he was cursed or something. They probably feared the influence of Archeus' father should anyone cross him or just Archeus and his lackies themselves.
Archon sat by himself on the edge of the raised landmass where their outdoor lunch hall stood to look over the landscape. Off in the distance he noticed smoke and wondered what could be going on. He knew that by the time he reached it it would be nightfall and whatever was burning would be ashes by the time he arrived. He finished his lunch and made his way into town. he had some time to kill and he was advanced enough in his swords training that he could afford to miss his next class should the situation require it.
He made his way down through town to the local park and sat down on a bench. At least here he wouldn't be bothered by Archeus and his goons and wouldn't be subjected to boring oral lessons about the history of the Greek pantheon. They really hadn't done anything for him and why would they? He was a man from a different pantheon. Even though his pantheon were almost all extinct he still had Apollymi he could pray to. Seeing as she was the one who killed the rest of the pantheon for their betrayal including her husband, she had to have taken up their powers somehow otherwise the universe would be unbalanced and that was when chaos ensued.
He then turned his head to scan the surrounding abundance of nature. He smiled until he saw a girl laying on the bench across from him to his left in broad daylight. Making his way towards her cautiously he attempted to gently rouse her.
"Hey. Hello? Miss?" he gently called to her.
He looked her over. She appeared to be wearing clothing that wasn't hers. he could tell by the way they didn't fit her in the slightest. The pants hugged her waistline a little too snugly and her tunic was incredibly large for a girl her size.
"Miss? Are you alright?"
It was then he heard familiar voices. It was Archeus and the other two bullies that without him by their side were cowards and wouldn't dare mess with anyone. Archeus was a natural leader it was said so much so that he roused their hearts to be brave enough to pick on those weaker than them. The mere sight of the three enfuriated him but he had been told long ago to control his fury and hatred. He hid off in the bushes so that they wouldn't see him. He knew they had had to follow him here otherwise they would have no reason to be out of classes.
"Where did he go?"
"I could have sworn I saw him come this way. He does like to idle here quite often. Probably thinks up some bestial fantasies about that ass that he cares so much for."
"Well does that surprise you? Look who his adoptive father is."
Archeus turned to the both of them.
"You're both fools. He's so retarded he doesn't have the capacity to think up such ideas."
Archon clenched his fists and gritted his teeth, doing his best to hold back his anger. He just hped they wouldn't bother the sleeping girl. if they dared try to harm her he wouldn't be able to restrain himself.

Astrid's eyes slowly opened as she felt her body shook. She didn't understand why she was shaking till she realized someone was calling for her. She looked up at him and blinked a few times. She still didn't understand what was going on. She was in shock over the whole thing. Her mind just couldn't make the connection. She slowly sat up and looked back at him. Her body slowly started to shake as she looked down at her hands. She felt the sting of tears in her eyes as she let her hands fall to her knees. "I-I'm sorry. I'm not really sure what happened or how I got here. I just feel so tired...." she said as she let her back fall against the bench.
She let her eyes scan around her as she waited to see what he would do. She was ready to kick and fight her way out of what ever he threw her way. She lifted a hand and brushed it through her hair and she realized how she looked. She probably looked worse then a slave to him. She couldn't help the blush that formed on her face.

"Are you alright? I promise not to hurt you. Would you like to sleep at my place? I can carry you there if you are weak."
He looked her over conceringly. He wanted to treat her wounds and get her a better fitting tunic at least. Noone deserved to walk around in someone else's rags. She should at least have clothes of her own.
"No questions asked. I'm not nosy. Just don't murder me in my sleep. It would be a waste of time to try and rob me. I don't have much."
When he heard Archeus and the others coming near he stated he would return shortly and not to tell them where he was should they ask. And then he hid in the bushes.
After the three morons were finished insulting him and his lineage they turned to see the girl on the bench. Archon's heart began to pound as if to fly out of his chest. He didn't know whether this girl would reveal him or not but she was his only hope.

She wasn't sure why he was hiding but soon she saw the people coming towards her. She just watched them as they walked. They took one look at her and started laughing. She looked ridiculous to them. She looked worse then a slave. They didn't give her the time of day and just walked passed her. She just watched them till they were out of view. When they were gone her gaze turned to her hands and she felt the tears threatening to fall again. She wasn't sure what had happened to her or how she managed to get into this town.
She turned towards the stranger who had talked to her. "What happened to me? I'm so confused." She told him as she gripped the shirt she wore. "I was waiting for the king to return from his trip and now I'm here in this strange town. I just want to go home." She told him. Her body was curled in and she was shaking a bit.

What they had done to her infuriated him even more than the comments about his lineage. He couldn't believe his school would teach such a cruel individual to wield a lethal weapon such as a sword. As he watched them walk off laughing he waited until they were out of eyesight before emerging from the bushes and reapproaching the girl.
He gently took her hands in his as she began to attempt to hold back even more tears. Seeing her so upset made him want to pound the three idiots' faces in to the point their own parents wouldn't be able to recognize them.
He looked up into her eyes with a kind smile.
"I understand that you're afraid and confused. I would be too if I woke up in a strange town all beaten up. I'm here now to help you though. If you'd like you could spend the night at my folks' place and then tomorrow morning I can escort you to whatever city you came from. What is the name of the kingdom from which you hail fair maiden?"

She watched him closely. She didn't know if she should trust him or not. With a soft sigh she let herself relax hoping her tears would stop. She had to get it together. She rubbed at her eyes with a soft sniffle she looked back up at him. "I hail from the region where Zeus controls." she said trying to remember what god her king had told her looked over their kingdom. Every part of the world had a specific god to it. She shivered slightly as she realized how late in the night it was getting. She really just didn't know if she could trust him though. But what else was she going to do? She was alone in this world. There was nothing else to do. She looked down and nodded.
"I guess." she told him with a sad smile.

He took her hands gently in his, helping her to her feet. He stepped along side of her and escorted her to his parents' place.
"We're here," he stated before opening the door.
His parents saw him bring this strange girl into their house and froze for a moment before asking him who his "friend" was.
"I found her. She needs our help. I'm going to take her home tomorrow," he replied.
He hadn't gotten her name so he couldn't introduce her to them even if he wanted to. He led her up to his bedroom and laid her down on his bed.
"I'll sleep downstairs in the den. Come down if you need anything," he stated as he let her get comfortable. "Good night," he added before going to leave the room.

Astrid let him lead the way but when his parents stared at her she couldn't help but to freeze. She didn't like the look that his parents gave her. It was like she wasn't good enough or how could he bring a slave home. She couldn't help but to flinch a bit and look away as he talked with his parents. When he lead the way back up she couldn't help the nervousness. With a soft sigh she sat down on bed and looked up at him. When he just say that he was returning downstairs with his parents she relaxed. When he closed the door she laid her head down on the pillow.
She relaxed until she heard a soft knock on the door. His mother walked in with a set of clothing and a wash cloth with a warm bucket of water. "Here so you can clean up. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask me." she told her with a smile as she set it down and put the cloths next to her. She quickly left so that Astrid could get some privacy.
She looked down at the cloths and they looked like they would fit a lot better. She put the cloth in the water before she took off the shirt. She began to wash her arms and chest. Then took off her pants and washed her legs and everything else. When she was finished washing her body she wet the cloth and started to wet her hair so that it would less oily. When she was finished washing her body she slipped into the clothing. It fit a lot better. It almost looked like she wasn't a servant in the kings palace. She looked like she might belong there. With a soft sigh she let her eyes slip close and she fell to sleep.

Archon returned downstairs to explain the situation better to his parents. Then his mother left to take up some bathing utensils and clean clothes that would fit the girl better. Archon stared at his father.
"Dad I'm having trouble with containing my anger. The bullies that have been bothering me just took one look at the girl and began laughing hysterically before just walking off still laughing. How do I know when is a good time to fight for something i believe in? I know I have to control my rage or an accident might happen but I can't sit back like a coward the rest of my life and watch bullies get away with abusing other people."
His father gave him an understanding smile before his mother returned downstairs.
"My boy you've made me proud since the day we brought you home. And just by you asking me that question I know sending you to that school was the right thing to do. I'm sure your teachers could instruct you better than I but ya see m'boy you should never attack out of anger no matter the situation. In order to fight skillfully and with proper form to insure success you must keep a level head about you. Becoming irate because of a situation will only cause you to get sloppy and reveal your moves to your opponent before you even finish a sword swing. But protecting someone you care for is never the wrong situation regardless of who you raise your sword against. No matter what a person's position or title they have no right to harm another human being. You know other than the criminals in the dungeons that are rightfully there. But it is up to the gods to judge. All is according to their will."

Astrid woke up the next morning silently screaming. She was covered in sweat and panting hard. She quickly looked around the room forgetting where she was. She fumbled in the sheets as she moved the the head of the bed. As she realized where she was she began to calm down. When she rubbed at her eyes a little bit as she caught her imagine in the mirror that was hanging on the wall. She looked really bad and like she hadn't slept in weeks even though she just woke up. She frowned slightly as she walked up to the mirror and looked herself over. She looked about the room at what she could do to make herself look a little better and looked at the cold water. She wasn't going to complain.
She walked over to the water and took off her cloths. She washed herself again with the water. When she was finished She wet her hair and braided it down her back. She kept a slight amount in front of her eyes to hide a few of the cuts on her cheek. She looked back at the mirror when she smiled. She looked a bit better. She fixed up the cloths that she had been given and walked to the window. She looked around to make sure no one was around and dumped the water.
She hesitated slightly as she walked to the door. She wasn't sure what time of day it was and she was in a strangers house. She tried to keep calm and eventually she opened the door. She really didn't want to intrude anymore. She started to get a little more worried when she didn't hear anyone moving around. She held the bucket that was given to her last night. When she was about to take a step downstairs his mother noticed her and smiled.
"Good morning." she said and Astrid turned and looked at her. "You look so beautiful in my old clothing." she said as she walked up to her and gently pet her head. "Why don't you help me make breakfast." she said as she walked down the steps. She took the bucket and set it under the stairs before they began to make breakfast. Astrid took control of the meal and had her sit down. She was used to it and loved cooking for others. She finished it and set the table. Astrid smiled the whole time she cooked enjoying every second.

Archon awoke to the wonderful odor of breakfast being made. He sat up with a stretch and a yawn before standing and stretching some more before scratching his head and yawning once again. He turned to see the girl he had brought home cooking instead of his mother.
"Morning," he mumbled as he made his way towards her. "Smells great. You cook alot?"
After she finished cooking and plates were filled he sat down to eat with her as his mother took over once again.
"You need to get your strength up before making the long journey to your home kingdom. I'll be sure to pack some food for you while you travel as well. Can't have you two starving now can I?" his mother questioned.
A couple of hours later they were ready to leave. Archon had his sword tied to his waist and a small pack tied around his back filled with a couple basic medical supplies and food that his mother had made.
"Shall we?" he questioned to the girl.
He waved his mother and father off as they began their trek to the neighboring kingdom.
"Told you that you could trust me. Nothing bad happened to you while at my place. Unless you had any bad dreams that is. I'm sorry but I can't really do much about those other than lend an ear for when you need to vent."

Astrid ate with them and couldn't help but to miss her own family. She staid out of the way of them as they packed. She was really scared to head back. She brushed some of her hair out of her face before she picked up the plates and started washing them even when his mother fought her against her doing it. "It makes me feel more like home doing these things."she explain and her mother smiled a bit. "I am a servant to the king where I live. He save me when I was a child so its the least that I could do." she explained as she cleaned the kitchen up.
She nodded when he asked if she was ready. She didn't have anything with her so that made it easy for her to get ready. She put on her shoes and stood by the door. When he left the house she followed after him.

He smiled as he watched her insist on helping his parents. And then he overheard what she said. "A servant to the king? In our house?" he thought to himself.
He didn't wish to make it seem like a big deal so he didn't make any comments about her revealing statement. Finally he had some information on her so that he knew more than that she was a pretty face.
Archon checked to make sure she was following and keeping up alright. Even though he was carrying everything he wouldn't complain if he had to carry her as well. Part of him wanted to play the hero. The other was nervous about the journey. This would be his first time outside of his village that he could remember. He maintained a steady pace as they made their way to the edge of the village and past its borders to the trail that connected the two cities.

Astrid knew that it was going to be at least a day or so to get to her kingdom. As they made it further out into the woods she couldn't help but to get nervous. She didn't remember how she got to the village he lived in in the first place and now they had to go back. But the problem was what were they going to find when they got there? Would the king be safe? Or would he....?
She pushed the thoughts out of her mind. He was alright. She knew he would be. About an hour into the walk they came into a clearing. It was a beautiful field of flowers and other plant life mixed in with some metals. She saw chairs decorated with leaves and vines. Tables as well. It looked like at some point there might have been a small cabin there but there was only small amounts of timber and the table and chairs left. She noticed a guy around their age relaxing by a near by tree. He wore a strange outfit and had a stick. She had never seen what a real mage looked like because the king wasn't to found of them. She guessed it was because he was scared of it. His eyes were closed and his auburn hair was a mess. He looked of average height and weight but what was weird was he wasn't reacting to the noise that they were making when they walked. That was till she realized that he had plugs in his ears. She couldn't believe someone could be so trusting of the world like he was.

Archon noticed the mage and Astrid's intrigue in the man before moving closer cautiously to inspect the scene before them. When he noticed the ear plugs in the man's ears he waved his hand in front of the stranger's face to see if he'd notice the subtle variations in light or if he was meditating. When the hand waving didn't produce a response he tapped the man on the shoulder.
"Sir? Sir?? What are you doing out in the middle of the woods by yourself?"
Upon the tapping on his shoulder the mage let his eyes fly open and he quickly grabbed his staff and aimed it at Archon's face.
"Who are you that you would be foolish enough to interrupt the meditations of a mage? Speak quickly."
"My name is Archon. This is a friend of mine. We're on our way to the kingdom watched over by Zeus to return this fair maiden to the castle. We were just wondering if you were okay being out here by yourself in the middle of the woods on a trail frequented by brigands and bandits?"

He hesitated slightly unsure if he should let down his guard. He looked between him and the girl. When he looked at her he could see the truth in her eyes and he put his staff down and took a step towards her. He gently ran his finger tips over her cheek and sighed. "Its okay." he told her with a soft smile. "I can see that your struggling with your memories and the pain but it will all be fine. I promise." he told her as he dropped his hand and walked away from them. "The kingdom of Zeus huh... I heard rebels took it over. It doesn't sound like a place someone would want to return too."
"What?!" Astrid said alarmed. The mage held a hand under her elbow as she wobbled a little bit as flashes of what happened started to come back. "No, I have to warn the k-... I never found him.. What if he was captured..." she said with a small whimper. She had no idea what happened but now she defiantly had to get back. Maybe she could play the part as a servant there to find him. "We have to go back." she said
"Going to a rebel infested kingdom it is. Adventure it is~" he said all excited. He loved things like that. Being in places that there was no exit out or the chance to live was just situations he loved being in. He always seemed to get out though. "My name is Alan." he told them with a mischievous smile.

"A pleasure to meet you Alan. My name is Archon and this fair young maiden's name is.....actually I don't think I ever had the pleasure of learning her name yet."
He smiled nervously, rubbing the back of his head with his hand as he faced the two of them. He knew that she was already going through a difficult situation and on top of it now she had discovered the the king she cared for was under attack. If it were him in her shoes nothing would stop him from fighting a path back to the castle. Nothing would slow him and he would be merciless to any that got in his way. It was how he was trained after all.
"We'd be honored to have you travel with us Mage Alan. Let's make haste and save the kingdom."

She looked away from the both of them. She wasn't sure if she wanted to share her real name with them. "I'm Ast." she told them in a soft tone. When Alan started to get excited over the fight she couldn't help but to laugh. It was like a little kid in a candy store. She hesitated slightly before they started again. She hung back and walked behind the two. They talked about various things and Alan even explained about what talents he had. He was able to manipulate electricity and he was able to read peoples minds. Just what was on the surface. He dared not to go any deeper. You could get lost in someones mind if you went into deep.
It was about three hours when she started to get really tired. She refused to let them know though. She didn't want to be a bother to them. She looked to the side when she saw a stream. She looked back at the two. "Hey, I'm going to go get a drink." she told them as she headed towards the water. She bent down towards the water and felt a branch snap under her knees. She put some water in her hands and sip at it. She relaxed as she felt the warm sun on her skin and a small smile. She was so happy to feel it.

Archon turned and looked towards her as she announced she was going to get a drink. He watched as she made her way between the trees towards the water and kept glancing over to check on her as he continued to speak with Alan. He knew they couldn't walk there all at once. They would need to rest here and there on the way otherwise they might receive stress injuries. The last thing they needed was to be injured before going into battle.
"I'm just an average student from the local school. My best skills though are in sword play and weaponry though," he replied whne Alan began to speak about his magical abilities. "That could be a very useful technique where we're going."
The whole while the two of them were talking he would glance over towards the river to make sure that Ast didn't fall into the running water, not knowing whether she knew how to swim or not. He also kept an eye out for any movement around them in the forest incase there were bandits still stationed in the woods. The last thing he needed was for Ast to be kidnapped when he promised her that he would escort her safely back home.
"Are you alright Archon? You seem very on edge here." Alan questioned.
"As I said to you when we met there were bandits and brigands that travel this road and station themselves in these woods to victimize defenseless travelers. I don't want them to get a jump on us should any have remained here. I promised Ast I would escort her safely home and don't wish to take any risks with her safety."

"Like I said. We will be fine. Remember my ability. That means no one can sneak up on me while I'm paying attention to my surroundings. Things will be fine but I think its lunch time. Why don't I go get some fish and we can cook it up. Ast needs to rest for a while. She doesn't want to say how tired she is. The trauma is pulling on her sanity. We have to see if we can keep her from thinking to much." he explained as he started farther down the stream to the river so he could get some fish.
Astrid pushed herself back agaisnt a tree when she was finished drinking. She looked over and noticed that Alan wasn't standing with Archon anymore. She tilted her head to the side as she muffled a yawn. She looked down at her feet as she pulled her shoes off. She gently started to massage them. She started at the toes then went down. She relaxed happily feeling a lot better. Her feet were hurting a bit. The shoes didn't fit perfectly and she had a decent blister on the tendent on her foot.

Archon nodded as Alan spoke. When the mage walked off to go catch a meal Archon thought it best to go and check on Ast. He followed the path he had watched her weave through the trees towards the stream until he found her against a tree by the bank. He sat down next to her with a smile.
"We're going to rest here for a little bit. Alan's catching a meal," he stated.
He looked down to see she had removed her shoes and noticed that she had a blister.
"I apologize for such ill fitting attire. It was all we had and we wanted to help. You think you'll be alright til we make it back to your kingdom and get you a new pair of your own?"
He looked her in the eyes as he spoke. Part of his training in school was etiquette and how to carry one's self when acting as a hero.
"We should probably pop it and you could run it in the cool water of the stream. Otherwise it will only get more and more painful as we continue the journey."

"If we pop it we have to worry about infection. It can wait till we get there." she told him as she looked around for a leaf. When she found a good one she placed it over the blister. She took her other shoe off and her foot was fine. She gave her foot a quick massage before placing her shoe back on. She looked about then stood up. "I should get a fire started." she told him as she started to clear a spot on the ground.
She finished it then started to gather the wood.

Archon followed her to where she was clearing ground for a campfire. He then approached Alan and spoke to him.
"I'll take first watch tonight. That fire she's building might attract unfriendly attention," he muttered to the mage as he gathered kindling from around their feet.
He returned to Ast once he had an armful of kindling and wood. It wasn't a difficult task other than the fact that if he gathered to close to the river the wood would all be wet. He neatly stacked the pile next to the makeshift fire pit she had constructed and smiled over at her.
"Anything else you require assistance for m'lady?"
