It was another sun-scorched day in the Demon World. There were squabbles amongst the general public about differing opinions on multiple issues as well as who should actually rule. Whenever he would hear these types of discussions he generally wiped out whoever said anyone but his name as the true ruler. It was his job to keep the throne he had earned after all, He was just walking around when one of his generals ran up to him and stopped on a dime with a bow.
"Your highness. Humans have been sighted in the realm. I knew you would want to deal with this personally so I rushed to you immediately."
Raizen stood tall with a smirk on his face, giving the general a small salute before walking past her and towards the location of where the mortals had been spotted. He had an affinity for humans. He found their culture and technology fascinating. Perhaps it was because he couldn't step foot in their realm without disrupting the balance of nature and causing the world to be subjected to the apocalypse unless he had ancient limiters placed upon his powers. The only way they could be removed would be for him to die. Considering he was an SS power classed demon according to the spirit world where the humans went when they passed on, the limiters would reduce his class to C class. It would be rather annoying if he ever got to spend an extended period of time there but he usually led the humans back home and then jumped back through the portal like they had only experienced a bad dream.
His hair was pure white and his eyes glowed with red rings around his irises. He stood around six foot even and weighed somewhere around 220 pounds of lean muscle. He wore loose clothing to deceive opponents from guessing his strength. When he finally met up with the humans he spoke in what he thought would be their tongue. It was English but olde English.
"Greetings and salutations to you one and all. Mine name is Raizen and if thou would carest to follow myself I shall accompany thee back to your realm."
The humans looked between each other as he walked through their crowd waving them onward to attempt to get them to follow him. Eventually they started one-by-one to follow just to see where he would take them. He walked them back through the portal out to their realm and he could feel the power dampeners engage automatically as if on cue.
"I welcome thee to thine own realm. Doeth take care in the future to avoid any more odd portals to other realms. Thou might not end up in such a friendly area upon thy next incident."
As he turned to go back through the portal he was met by air. THe portal had closed in the brief time that it took for all of them to get through and for him to give them his friendly warning.
"Well shite! What the bloody hell am I supposed to do now?"

There was an alert for demons in the city, one that only certain people got - ones that were called Settlers. Once such Settler was a police officer, one that happened to be on patrol when the alert came in. He let out a long suffering sigh before turning his vehicle into the next alleyway, following it down until he was sure he was out of sight of normal people. There, he changed his appearance, revealing his nature as a demon himself. Two large horns sprouted from his temples, his teeth sharpened, and eyes shifted from green to gold, the sclera darkening until it was black. Only the most minor of changes, keeping his complete transformation for when, and if, it was necessary. Hopefully it wouldn't be needed.
He jumped from the ground to the rooftops, dashing across them like lightning striking, invisible to the human eye. When he arrived at the location on his alert, he slowed to a stop and jumped in front of the new guy. It was then he recognized who it was, and he knelt to one knee, bowing his head in respect. "My lord, what are you doing trapped here in the Human realm?" He stood up, tilting his head at the demon king. "You shouldn't be here - that is," He frowned as his own disrespect, "I mean to say, your powers have been dampened severely, my alert didn't even know who you were. You're ranked Class C here, you know."

Rector turned to see what appeared to be a human with some demonic features and realized that it had to be a demon attempting to hide in the human realm. He looked at the uniform that the newcomer wore and approached cautiously, staring at the badge on his chest. It said law enforcement. The discovery made him smirk a bit.
"Arise my friend. I am aware that my powers have been dampened. It is for the safety of this world that my aura does not tear it asunder. As I am certain you are aware random portals appear every now and then here and sometimes human discover them by happenstance. I was just leading a group of said mortals back to this realm when the blasted portal closed on me before I could return to the Demon Realm. My question for you is being that I am here now will you assume the mantle of friend...or foe?"
Raizen eyed the newcomer warily. He would prepare himself for a fight, one that he could possibly lose now that his powers were so severely dampened. That didn't mean that he wouldn't give em hell before he went out. Besides if this stranger attempted to just kill him it would undo the ancient dampeners and he would revive at full power.
"If friend I would dare say I could use some assistance. If I am in fact stuck here I will need to learn the new tongue of this land and learn the changes that have occurred since my last visit which if you couldn't tell was during the 16th century. Do the British still expand their land and rule over other continents? I have no idea about current technology or societal norms. I imagine even my garments are extremely out of date."

The Settler took a long look at the demon king, finding his words so painfully true, it hurt even a hardened policeman like him. Even he couldn't help but smirk and shake his head, sighing softly. "Sire, you are long out of date. It is now the 21st century, and the humans are rather crafty with their technology. It is no longer barbarian in nature, but rather... smart." He shrugged at a lack of decent wording before clearing his throat. "My name is Tomozaki - Tomo is fine, and I am a friend. Even with your power dampeners you could easily tear me in half and I am in no rush to die."
He chuckled and straightened up. "There is a lot to teach you, sire. Perhaps I should get you into something more plain for this day and age, and then I can help to find someone who could teach you how to be modern..." He cracked a smile then. "Let us be on our way sire - to the rooftops back to my cruiser and then I will take you to the safehouse where you can get changed and I can inform you of the Settlers." He motioned his head before leaping up onto the rooftops.

Raizen nodded as he listened to the peace keeper and followed him up onto the rooftops, keeping pace with the man named Tomo. Once they were back to his cruiser Raizen approached and carefully inspected the door, popping it open by pulling the handle outward. He looked inside before getting in.
"This is a rather odd carriage Tomo. Where are the horses to pull it?"
He questioned as Tomo sat down in the front seat behind a small wheel contraption directly in front of him. He placed some kind of key into a slot and something roared to life. Then the chariot began to move by itself. Raizen watched in wide-eyed wonder.
"Astounding."

"Yeah," Tomo laughed a little, reaching over and putting Raizen's seatbelt on, "Sorry, my lord, but this is a law now. And this thing we're in? It's called a car, or vehicle... however you wanna address it..." He began explaining some things about modern technology as he drove down the street, pointing out things and doing his best to help the king in his own way.
When they arrived at a small house just a few streets away, Tomo turned off the car and got out. "Come in, my lord, I have some clothes you can get until you can buy your own. I'll help you set that up..." He nodded his head, leading the king into the house. He wandered off to grab some spare clothes he kept put away for just this reason and when he came back, he had a pair of jeans and a short sleeved hoodie. "It's an odd style, I must say, but it's what many people will wear..."
"Now, we Settlers are the ones who help demons who come to the Human realm for various reasons... whether it's as a refugee or just someone who wants to live here for a time. We keep them in check, and help them set up identities and jobs. It's not hard to do when several of us are law enforcement or politicians. We know some demons are intrigued by the humans, so we do our best to cater to that while also keeping our mortal hosts alive and safe." He nodded his head. "When you get done changing, we'll head to the safehouse and I'll introduce you to the daughter of one of the Settlers."

Raizen listened intently on everything that Tomo had been explaining to him throughout the car ride, even working in some questions each time to further explain things they had gone over. When Tomo left and returned with clothing Raizen stared at it with an odd expression at first before looking back to Tomo.
"Where do you want me to change? I doubt you would want to witness me in the buff. I would prefer to avoid that as well."
When Tomo showed him where to change he closed the door behind himself and pulled the odd garments on. The jeans felt a wee bit snug but not uncomfortably so. He liked the hoody because it was loose on his frame. It made him feel a little bit less self-conscious. Stepping back out of the room he put his slip on shoes from his previous outfit back on.
"Fashion trends certainly have changed but clothing still appears to work the same luckily," he stated with a small chuckle. "Thank you again for the assistance Tomo. Le's get going shall we?"

"That they have, my lord. Times have changed much since your last visit..." Tomo smirked, standing up and leading him back to the car. "There's no need to thank me, my lord. It's what we Settlers decided to do. We find peace in the human realm, even with the wars and other catastrophes going on. It's a lesser version of our world... Many demons have settled down with humans." He looked to the king to see his reaction to that one.
In the car, Tomo kept quiet, calculating where they're heading by watching for signs. Upon finding the right one, he turned into the alleyway and stopped the car. "There's the safehouse," He leaned over and pointed out Raizen's window at an unassuming warehouse. "It's hidden for obvious reasons. Come on," He opened his car door and stepped out, waiting for Raizen before heading into the building.
Inside, it was built like a large house - with a common room, multiple counters and a couple of stoves, there were rooms sectioned off for temporary bedrooms and what looked to be bathroom stalls on the far side. "Now, to meet Hana - she practically runs this place, while also juggling school. She's smart... mouthed," He smirked, cupping his hands around his mouth and shouting out Hana's name.

"Hold your horses!" The reply came almost instantly from the bathroom, followed by frustrated groan and mumbled words of instructions to someone. Finally, a young woman with long blonde hair appeared, water dripping from the bottoms of her jeans and sleeves. "Sorry, Tomo, one of our guests thought it'd be funny to try and wash all three of the stray dogs he found at once in the shower. It wasn't funny in the least." She deadpanned, her face slightly annoyed.
The look passed quickly once she noticed the man with Tomo, her head tilting to the side curiously. "Hello there. I'm Hana. Are you a friend of Tomo's or a guest...?" She trailed off, looking between the two for further explanation.

Raizen imagined his eyes opened a little bit when Tomo explained that some of the demons that had come to the mortal realm even had decided to settle down with humans. He was still amazed by the vehicle as well but at least he managed to contain his excitement enough to not quiz Tomo the entire way to the safe house. Once inside he was amused to see that Tomo and Hana spoke to each other like old colleagues or even perhaps a married couple. He held back a chuckle at the thought seeing as he didn't want to be presumptuous. When he finally met Hana and she introduced herself he gave her a bow at the waist.
"Pleasured to make your acquaintance Hana. You can call me Raizen. I just arrived in the mortal realm today so I assume that you would opt for guest more so than friend of Tomo. Although he has helped me a great deal already today it was however only just today that we have met. We would have to get to know one another a little better before I could say that we are actual friends."

Hana nodded along in understanding to everything he said, a short laugh leaving when he finished. "He has a nose for finding new guests. He swears he doesn't but then another person is trailing along behind him." She grinned at said man in a cheeky sort of way. "Pleased to meet you though, Raizen. You're welcome to stay here as long as you like. How knowledgeable are you of the customs here on a scale of 'Nada' to 'No problemo, I got it covered'? What are you good at? Like hobbies and other stuff?"

Raizen thought for a moment to correctly answer her questions and listened to the words she utilized. They would probably be the correct vernacular for the current society.
"Last time I was here was in the 1600's. So might as well go with nada Hana. As for what I'm good at.....I am not certain if I possess any skills that would be useful in obtaining an occupation. I've only been trained in combat for half my life. If it's useful to know I am capable of nullifying any type of elemental attack from another non-human."
He looked between the two as he spoke to see if either would react to that news. Tomo knew who he was already but seeing as she didn't bow in his presence he was assuming Hana didn't recognize him. He'd prefer to keep the number of people that knew to a minimum. People tended to panic when he would appear especially in the mortal realm. He didn't blame them for doing so. Half his life, his time as king, he spent his days ensuring that his subjects respected his abilities enough that they wouldn't dare to oppose him or attempt an uprising. The other half....well the other half he didn't really like to talk about. It wasn't quite as pleasant as everyone tended to think. As soon as they saw that he was royalty they tended to think he had a cushy lifestyle as a kid. They couldn't be more incorrect with that assumption.

"The 1600s? I could've used you a couple of weeks ago to study for a test!" Hana pouted, sighing wistfully at the thought of the grade she'd gotten. She'd passed but just barely.
Shaking her head of the thoughts, she gave Raizen another once over and hummed thoughtfully. "So, you'd probably be good in a Tekken fighting tournament but not so much as a construction worker or librarian. Got it." She nodded and glanced at Tomo as an idea popped into her head. "Say, Tomo... do you think he'd be able to pass as a student?"

Tomo watched the exchange between the two with mild interest, rolling his eyes at Hana and her speech. Perhaps she wasn't the best to help the king... He paused in that line of thinking when Hana proposed her idea. "I... well, he could actually. As a high school senior, yes. It'd be a stretch, but he could pass as an out-of-towner, and everyone usually claims they seem older than they are." He looked the king up and down.
"I told you she was smart, my lo-- ahem, Raizen..." He coughed to cover his mistake before humming. "Being with the seniors would help you learn about modern times as well, especially if you took the right classes. Hana, you can help him settle in - don't you stay in an apartment near the school? He'd do good in blending in there, even his mannerisms wouldn't seem off if there's a guild of theatre students there too."

"I assure you I can hold my own in a fighting tournament but they don't still have those do they? Not with enough prize money that I could live off of."
His head swung between the two of them when they began talking about him passing off as a student and stopped with a relieved expression on Tomo when he had caught himself from letting out Raizen's identity.
"What type of classes would you suggest? History I would assume and if I'm going to be self-sufficient I think I might need to learn some basic culinary skills. As for an apartment how would I afford it? I cannot live off of someone else's charity for the time that I am here. I refuse to do so. I would still require some type of occupation even if its physical labor part time."

Hana nodded along to Tomo's words, lookin to Raizen when he began speaking up as well. She held up her index finger. "One of the first things we need to do is introduce you to gaming." She said, realizing quickly how she allowed herself to get off track. Again.
"Ahem, but there's plenty of classes for you to take. I'll help you pick an extracurricular too since it'll help you get even more acquainted." She gave a nod, pausing before continuing, "You can always get a job. There's various kinds so there should be something we can find that you can do easily enough. Tomo can look into it. I might be able to work out something for an apartment but until then , you can either stay here or stay with me. I have an extra room in my apartment. Its used as a junk room currently so it'll need cleaning but it shouldn't take long."

"Gaming? Like rock, paper, scissors, tag, and hide-and-seek? Those are children's games."
He listened to her as she explained and made a kind offer to let him stay in her domicile.
"I greatly appreciate your kind offer Hana and I can clear it out but if that's where you were using for storage where will we put the things that I would be moving out of the room? Perhaps I should simply stay here for a night or two until I can finish cleaning it out? As for my new life as a student, when would I begin? Also schooling I am certain will be far more advanced in the present than it was back in the 16th century so how will I keep up with my studies when I'm centuries behind?"
Realizing he was ranting, he stopped speaking and took a deep breath and sighed.
"I apologize for the frantic speed of my questioning. I have so many emotions right now about my situation. I am at an odd combination of excited and anxious about everything. Not to mention that the multitude of advancements in technology has me overwhelmed in attempting to comprehend it all. I'm starting to wonder how I could possibly catch up with it all."

At Hana's mention of gaming, Tomo pressed a hand to his forehead, praying to every deity he knew of to deliver him from her madness. He just couldn't picture the king of all demons playing video games. He took a deep breath and turned his attention to Raizen, intent on answering as many of his questions as he could. Perhaps answering them will help keep him from telling Hana "NO" to anything unnecessary.
"She means video games, it is a pass-time humans enjoy - and, as Hana is both, she enjoys them..." Tomo gave her a pointed look before humming. "I will call for some help in cleaning the storage room out - we can simply use one of the spare rooms here for Hana's junk-- I mean, her items... and then she can sort through them at her leisure." He smirked at Hana, taking joy in the little moments he got to tease her.
"You could begin next week, at the beginning. It would give us a few days to get you into something of a routine and get you updated so you don't, er, stick out as much..." He tilted his head. "I fear that science and math might be a burden to you, but I have other Settlers who help with those, so there's not a need to worry for now. Literature and history will be a breeze for you if they're focusing on the 1600s anyways, otherwise Hana can help. Or, you could join a study group at the school - I hear those are quite helpful."
When the king admitted to being worried, but also excited, Tomo smiled, reaching out and giving him a pat on the shoulder. "Not to worry - we demons have to start somewhere. You reacted much better to cars than I did when I arrived here many years ago. I fear I might have.... clawed one in half," He grimaced before shaking his head. "Anyways, we'll take it nice and easy. For now, shall I drive us all to the apartment so you can get acquainted with everything there? I'll drop you and Hana off before heading to the station to call in some favors from the other Settlers."

Raizen smiled between the two grinning at Tomo's admission of his first run-in with a vehicle. He thought over all that the two of them were saying before he spoke again.
"I greatly appreciate both of your assistance. Will this school have other non-humans in it? Or shall I be a lone demon among mortals? I look forward to the challenge of fitting in as you say. My primary goal is to avoid detection until I can return home. Who knows? Perhaps i may learn to enjoy this realm before that happens. And as for these video games I would love to see one perhaps if possible, at some point. Lets take this one step at a time."
Turning to Tomo when he had offered to drive them to the apartment Raizen nodded his head in agreement.
"Let us make our way to the vehicle. Tomo, if I may ask, how fast can these vehicles possibly go?"

Tomo ran a hand down his face as Raizen agreed to see one of Hana's video games, thinking of all the possible ones she could potentially show him. He suppressed a groan as he motioned for them to follow after him, walking them out to the cruiser.
"Depending on what model you get, they can go too fast..." Tomo replied warily, eyeing Raizen before switching to 'cop mode', "And if they go too fast, I haul people in and put them in jail..." He raised an eyebrow at Raizen, surprising himself at how comfortable he was at subtly threatening the king.
He opened the back door for Hana to get in before rounding the cruiser and getting into the driver's seat. "You're a ways off from learning to drive, but... if the portal takes some time to open back up, you could learn eventually. Deities deliver us," He added after a moment, rubbing his forehead and then putting the car into drive.
It's a longer drive to the apartment building Hana stays in, but when they passed by the school on the way, Tomo pointed it out to Raizen, along with several shops and restaurants - just to get him introduced to the area. He pulled into the apartment parking lot and parked carefully.
"Alright, we're here. I'll come back by later, but I should have some helpers by before then to clear out the spare bedroom for Raizen..." He nodded his head to Hana. "Take care."
As soon as they exited the vehicle, he pulled out of the parking spot and drove away, even giving a final wave of his hand out of the window.

Hana waved goodbye to Tomo before turning back to face her charge, hand gesturing to the simple, gray bricked building with the rather uniformly trimmed hedges and flower gardens one could expect to see most places. "So, this is it. My apartment's on the third floor. First rule of owning an apartment is never get one of the higher floors. It's a death trap in case of a fire. Although... you might actually be okay since you're immune to that sorta stuff, right?" Hana grinned at him, walking towards the building and making sure Raizen was following. "It's peaceful enough considering the majority of the residents are high schoolers out on their own. Its the weekends and post-test days that you'll have to worry about because they like to throw parties. Parties in this time are... very different from the old days, let's just put it that way." She said, grimacing a bit even as she thought of it.
She led him through the lobby, waving to the woman who worked the desk who gave Raizen a simple bow of the head, and over to the elevators. "Alright, so... elevators are moving boxes that get us from floor to floor without walking. They give you this weird feeling in your stomach because of the movement and you sort of get used to it but not completely so... yeah. If you don't like it then we can take the stairs up after this but keep in mind that most places have elevators and most places have a loooot of floors." She warned, pressing the button to call for the elevator and stepping in when it 'ding'ed open.

Waving as Tomo drove away he had noticed that his peace officer friend had gotten quite comfortable with him in their short time together it seemed. There was no other explanation for Tomo daring to threaten him. Following Hana he did his best to pay absolute attention to everything she explained.
"Elevators are not that strange now that I've seen a vehicle as opposed to a carriage. It's basically a lift but instead of people at the top pulling ropes to lift us it is some type of machination that does the work? So what happens should the cable snap? Do we just free fall to our deaths or have the mortals figured out a way to prevent that as well?"
When they arrived on the third floor he followed her to a door with a number on it. He watched her pull out a key and unlock the door before they entered and he followed her to get the layout of the domicile.
"It's definitely more sheltered than my house at home. Everyone thinks I have a huge house for some reason but I have the same house that my father grew up in when he was young. It's more of a hut really so this is rather posh compared to my usual accomodations. Thank you again for permitting me to stay her Hana."

With Hana's door left open, the two were subject to numerous students running around like crazy, many yelling at each other. One such person was a young woman with green-dyed hair pulled into two messy buns on either side of her head. She stopped just outside Hana's door, ignoring the fact that it was open, and began shouting at someone down the hallway.
"Dammit, Ken, give me back my halter top before I cut your ears off!" She stomped at the look her bandmate gave her, growing furious. "I'm not kidding! I'll tell on you - and I'm sure Shin won't appreciate you messing up our practice session!"
"It's ugly, you don't need it, Max!" Came the reply as Ken disappeared around the corner.
Max huffed loudly, rolling her eyes upwards before blinking at the open door to her left. "Oh... um," She looked at Hana and Raizen, cheeks red now. "Ignore that. I live across the hall, and... well, nevermind. Bye!" She scurried away quickly, quiet until she reached the end of the hallway, though her voice still carried down to Hana's dorm. "I'm going to murder you slowly, Ken, and all your family will get is a matchbox of bones!"

Raizen turned quickly when the noise began outside the door. He was ready for any type of threat that came through that door until he saw the girl standing there. He relaxed and turned back to Hana when she ran off.
"That girl would do well in Demon World," Raizen stated with a chuckle. "I thought humans with their own houses would be a little bit more mature however. Males stealing girls' clothing? Is that a big thing now? It happened on very rare occasion during my last visit. It was definitely shunned back then. They were usually subjected to public humiliation and/or stoned by the people of the towns."
He knew things would change in the time he was gone from the mortal realm but he never could keep track of how long he was away for time passed differently in the demon realm on top of the fact that he would get busy and forget what day it was in the Demon Realm. The job of ruler was not always an easy one. Turning to look at Hana he gave her a small smile.
"Would you like me to get started in moving these boxes out to where the movers Tomo will be sending can access them more easily?"

"Eh... they're considered mature in terms of age but not so much in mind. The expectation of finding a wife or husband and settling down with kids and a job isn't as prominent anymore unless the person's parents are traditionalists. They're still expected to be responsible, get a job and keep out of trouble but not everyone listens, of course. You'll see what I mean." Hana nodded, "And no, it's still considered bad to steal a girl's shirt but she can handle herself. Her bandmates are just brats."
At the mention of the room that was to be Raizen's, she gave another small nod and moved towards the room's location. Along the way she gave him a tour and pointed out the area that was her living room and kitchen, divided solely by a counter, as well as where the bathroom was. "There's a coin laundry machine downstairs which is how you'll wash clothes. I'll show you that later." She said briefly, pausing in front of the door and opening it to reveal a room full of an assortment of boxes and other random objects that were strewn about. She giggled nervously. "It's not as bad as it looks... some of the boxes aren't even full, I swear."
