Rector enjoyed his lunch before continuing on with his classes. When night classes began, Rector took off his collar before he even entered the gymnasium. He could feel the release of his powers upon doing so.
He sighed and climbed the bleachers to wait for the coach to begin the sparring matches. At least he wouldn't have to participate tonight. He didn't need to stand out any more than he already was.
"I wonder who gets to have the fun tonight," Rector commented as Xerxes sat down next to him.
"Dunno. Up to Coach. Can't be as interesting as your match though. I don't care who she picks."
It was then Terra walked in. As soon as she saw Rector in the seats, she waved to him. Rector returned the greeting with a smile.
"She sems to have taken a liking to you," Xerxes stated.
"She's a cute little demoness I think. Cute kid," Rector replied.
"She's a second year Rector. She's been her longer than you," was Xerxes reply.
"You're kidding me!?" Rector questioned. "She's older than me??"
Xerxes smiled at Rector's response to the realization.
"Indeed. Now be quiet. Here comes Coach," Xerxes warned.
Rector regained his composure quickly as the coach took her position and announced the first fight. It was Xerxes against Ire.
"Good luck buddy. Stay alive," Rector told his comrade.
"No worries Rec. If you can do as well as you did, I'm sure a B class like me can survive," Xerxes replied.
"That's waht you think horny boy. You'll go down just as quickly as your friend," Ire spoke aloud.
Xerxes replied only by removing his limiter collar. His jump in power was far more noticeable than Rector's.
The two turned demon adn began their battle. Rector and the rest of the students watched on with awe as Xerxes managed to hold his own against Ire for a good while. As the fight progressed, Rector noticed something about Xerxes. He was injured and yet the coach didn't stop the fight. Ire showed no sign of letting up either.
"Be careful Xerxes! Kick her ass!" Rector cheered and was soon joined by Terra.
"Yeah Xerxes! Shwo that girl thingy cat who's the man!" the girl shouted.
Xerxes smirked towards Ire.
"Looks like I can't afford to hld back anymore Ire," he called to her.
"Funny. I was just about to say the same thing before I humiliate you in front of your new buddies."
"Bring it puddy cat," Xerxes replied.
Ire shot a lightning bolt at him. When it missed Xerxes began to charge. Before he could reach the demoness, a sharp pain coursed through his stomach and then his body collapsed.
"Ire! Lethal moves are forbidden! You know that!" Coach shouted before approaching Xerxes.
Before she could say anything, Rector was at Xerxes side, picking him up.
"I'll take him to the Infirmary Coach," Rector stated.
As he lifted his friend in demon form, the electricity surrounding Xerxes transferred from the unconscious student into Rector's body until his eyes glowed blue. He then turned to Ire, his fangs and claws growing.
"Your fight is with me panther. Touch any of my friends again and you'll not live long enough to regret your decision."
With that, Rector turned and began walking away. Xerxes returned to human form before Rector stepped into the Infirmary. He explained Xerxes' condition to the nurse as he sat his friend down on one of the beds.
"He'll be fine Rector. Please return to class," she commanded.
"Yes ma'am," he replied and sulkily began his reutrn to the gymnasium, his anger growing as his thoughts of Ire kept reoccurring.
Previously, the coach had stood in awe at the scene that ahd happened in front of her.
"It's about time we saw something demon-like from that boy. I was beginning to think he was human.
"Coach? What would you have me do? Am I to participate in any more fights?" Ire questioned in human form.
The coach turned to Ire with a scowl.
"No more fights for you for a good while Ire. In fact, I know he's only D class but I would avoid that boy at all costs or forfeit your life."
"But Coach..." Ire began.
"No buts! That boy was deadly serious when he threatened you and I'm beginning to think he would be capable of carrying it out," Coach shouted. "Stay away from him!"
Rector returned to his seat in the bleachers. Terra walked up to him as a fight was going on.
"You okay Rector? she asked. "Will Xerxes be alright?"
"He'll live Terra," he relied in a growl.
"Terra! You're next! Get down here!" the coach called.
"Yes ma'am!" Terra replied before running down the bleachers.
The fight began between Terra and one of the other students. Terra won rather easily against her classmate, only revealing her elemental affinity.
Rector was rather uninterested int he whole event. He was more concerned about Xerxes.
Terra returned to her seat next ot him with a smile unitl she noticed his expression.
"If you're that worried, why don't you just go and see if he's awake yet?" she questioned.
"Because she shooed me out of there trying to tell me he would be alright," he responded.
"So? If you're that worried at least go back there to check up on him. If he's your friend it would be the decen thing to do Rector."
"You're right Terra. I'm goona go and check up on Xerxes. I need to make sure Ire doesn't come back to finish him off at least."
With that he picke dup his backpack and hers, slinging both over his shoulders. He smirked back at her.
"You comin'? You're one of my friends too ya know?"
"Alright!" she replied with a smile.
The tow of them made their way off the bleachers, out of the gymnasium, and towards the Infirmary.
Upon arrival, they saw Ire leaving the Nurse's station.
"What is she doing in there?" Terra inquired towards Rector.
"I don't know what for sure but whatever it is can't be good. We better hurry to Xerxes."
