When it came time for class to end, Kyo began putting his books back into his bag. Ashley attempted to prevent Kyo from leaving but Hikaru had beaten her to him and the two walked out together.
The rest of the day seemed to go normally. As the students began leaving for home, however, screams could be heard as students ran around in a frenzy and a demon appeared in the Main Entrance doorway.
Kyo growled and set down his backpack next to Hikaru. He rushed forward at the demon. The best snarled before Kyo sent it flying back through the doors, outside in front of a whole quad of classmates. He stood at the doorway for a moment before closing in to finish the monster off.
Before he could finish picking it up off the ground, it stuttered words that he could hear.
"M...More hidden....amonst students...in...human form."
Kyo growled before snapping the creature's neck. As he began dragging the body away, he could overhear the whispering and muttering.
"He can't be human! Not if he took care of that monster so easily."
Another piped in with "Did you see how he sent it flying??"
Kyo glared back at what was his fellow students. The entire mass of teens and kids stepped back fearfully. After the momentary hesitation, he continued dragging the demon carcass away.
Hikaru stepped outside in time to see him disappear into the tree line. Then she noticed all teh students staring in the same direction anxiously, hoping neither monster would return.
"Oh Kyo," she muttered before rushing off after him.
Tsuko managed to stop her.
"It's not safe Hikaru. The military is on their way to capture Kyo to punish him for the disappearances from the school. You best stay with the rest of the students."
Meanwhile Kyo had begun feeding off the demon carcass. Just as he lifted his head, bright lights shown all around him and he could see men approaching. HIs pupils had dilated and he had to look away. Then he felt a pain course through his body and he was out cold.
Meanwhile Hikaru had shaken off Tsuko.
"You idiot! He's the one who was protecting the school from those monsters. They were the ones causing the disappearances. Now they'll flood the school like never before."
Tsuko stared wide-eyed at her as she spoke.
"He must have hypnotized you with his powers. You were his next."
"Idiot! I've lived int eh same house with him for years now. He would have killed me long ago if that were the case. He would never drink a human's blood! Only those monsters'."
She pouned on his chest as she spoke.
"You just eliminated our last line of defense against them!"
"You need to snap out of it Hikaru! He can't hurt or control you anymore."
When he saw that his words were not helping, he contacted the military responders to take Hikaru as well for psychiatric therapy. When they picked her up Tsuko boarded the vehicle as well, as if he belonged there. Hikaru struggled until one of the soldiers knocked her out with a seditive.
"Jeeze! She sure was under that monster's influence pretty hard."
"Yea. She was. Let's hope we can snap her out of it," Tsuko replied. "By the way, she said some nonsense about having lived with teh creature for a few years. I'll need to check both of their school files."
Meanwhile Kyo was unconscious in a separate vehicle.
"It's amazing! He looks so human!" one soldier stated.
"Yeah, but we must remember he's the monster that's been causing the disappearances of the kids at the school. Probably did to them what he did to that body in the woods. Stay on guard."
Upon arrival, Hikaru was locked in a padded room and laid on a bed. Kyo was not as gently tossed into a prison cell surrounded by crosses and garlic wreaths. Both awoke to a strange location and instantly attempted to escape but were denied freedom.
Once Hikaru had managed to calm down some, a voice came through a bull horn near the ceiling of her room.
"Greetings Hikaru. Relax, for this will be your new home until we can find a way to break the monster named Kyoshiro's hold on your mind."
"You idiots! How many times must I tell you that noone is controlling me before it sinks in?? I've lived with Kyo for years! We grew up together! If he wanted to hurt me he would have killed me the first night we met!"
Meanwhile Kyo had proven that the garlic wreaths wouldn't effect him by eating a few. As for the crosses, he unhung one and examined it inside his cell. This scene of course made the guards nervous. Their supervisor was called in.
"What will we do with you monster? None of the conventional methods would work on you it seems."
Kyo smirked and stood in his cell.
"You're the idiot who thought some food and a religous symbol would work?"
Kyo raised an eyebrow at the Sergeant.
"So what do I owe the pleasure of your visit Sarge?"
The soldiers seemed to be getting annoyed with Kyo's laid back attitude but their sergeant remained calm.
"You know why we're here monster. You've been causing some of the children from that school to disappear. We're here to punish you and to figure out what you did with your victims."
"I don't harm humans, only other monsters. If they took those kids, they're probably all dead and eaten by now. I apologize for the loss."
"So your excuse is that there are other monsters out there that caused these disappearances and they feed on children?" the Sarge questioned.
"Not just children but humans and each other. They're not picky. Hikaru and I have been trying to defend the school against them, but we haven't made a dent in their numbers."
"Nice try monster but we wont be falling for your lies. There's no way a little girl could fight off monsters such as you."
"Well...someone's a sexist, thinking women can't defend themselves.
The sergeant seemed to be starting to get annoyed.
