After breakfast, as Brynn and Aime' made their way through the stone hallways, the knights were greeting Aime' as a captain of the guard.
Just as Aime' was about to ask Brynn where she would like to go and what she would like to do, a royal guard approached Aime' and saluted before speaking.
"Captain sir!" the guard stated to get Aime's attention. "On behalf of the entire army I would like to congratulate you on your promotion sir."
Aime' smiled and replied, "And you all have my gratitude."
"We have decided to have a celebration in your honor sir. The party is scheduled in an hour in the training area of the grounds. We look forward to your arrival."
"I look forward to attending," Aime' replied as the guard bowed and walked away.
Aime' then turned to Brynn with his usual smile.
"So what would you like to do until the party my fair maiden?" he inquired.
Brynn put a finger to her chin while in thought. Once she removed her finger from her chin, she smirked slyly at Aime'.
"We could always go shopping...or we could take money from the treasury and give back the towns people a portion of their taxes?"
"I'll go retrieve the satchel and meet you at the treasury," he replied with a smile.
He leaned forward and kissed her before making his way to the doorway. He turned with a smile to her.
"Be safe."
And with that he rushed off to the stables to grab his saddle bag. Once he found it, he pet his horse quickly and rushed off back to the treasury. He hoped that Cyrin would not dare make a second appearance. He rushed in to see Brynn standing at the door, waiting for him. He approached and opened the door for her, ushering her inside.
Once inside with the door shut, he spoke to her.
"I have some extra wallets as well if we need them," he stated.
She smiled.
"That's alright Aime'. When the tax collector takes the fees he'll usually take them wallet and all," she replied.
Aime' nodded at the information and opened his saddle bag, following Brynn around the room and letting her fill the bag with purses and wallets filled with money."
Once the saddle bag was full, he gave a smile to Brynn before speaking.
"Let's go before anyone finds us here with all of this money," he suggested.
Brynn and Aime' walked out of the room and out of the castle to begin distributing the wealth of coins that Aime' was carrying. With each smiling face, Aime' and Brynn's hearts grew lighter, knowing that they were becoming an answer to prayer for these common folk.
Once Aime's bag was empty, the two began their return to the castle. Low and behold the one person Aim'e was hoping wouldn't show stood before them.
The female elf smirked at the two and without saying a word, pushed her two palms together at her side and within an instant, thrusted both forward, sending Brynn flying backwards to the ground.
Enraged, Aime' drew his sword without hesitation and began to rush forward toward Cyrin. Before his strike could land, the dark-skinned elf had prepared a barrier.
The evil female elf had learned her lesson last time that even her high level magics would be weak when pit against Aime's enchanted armor. She would tire him out and then, when he was exhausted, she would torment him by punishing Brynn once he was too tired to raise his sword.
At the same time, Aime' knew his weak spells and limited knowledge of elven magic would be as useless as Crynin's was against his armor. He ahd to think of something to end the stalemate.
It was then he remembered his love gift from Brynn. Drawing the elven blade from its sheath, he slashed at the magical barrier once more. This time a hole was cut and Aime' saw his opportunity. Without a moment's hesitation he thrust his mortal blade through the hole in the now disappearing barrier.
Cyrin was apparently shocked at this turn of events for she only managed to dodge the brunt of the attack, receiving nothing more than a minor scratch to her side.
"It seems the mortal is partial to you Brynn. You should call off the pet before he gets hurt. We wouldn't want to scar that magnificent visage of his now would we?"
Brynn stil lay unconscious on the ground behind Aime' and as such could not answer. Cyrin now returned her gaze to Aime'.
"Put your swords away Aime'. A failure of a human general cannot hope to best me in combat even with elven assistance," she stated and walked towards Aime' with the same arrogant smirk.
"Besides, I do not wish to kill you. You could be useful once tamed. What say you leave Brynn the hopeless, a naive and weak girl, and become my lover instead?"
Aime' sheathed his swords.
"I do not wish for unnecessary bloodshed either Cyrn," he replied.
Cyrin's smirk grew wider, assuming what would come next form Aime', but instead of a confession of love or an embrace, she saw him approach Brynn and lift her gently off the ground into his arms.
"Less us pass Cyrin," he requested. "My only desire at the moment is to return Brynn to her chambers."
Cyrin grew flustered.
"If you will not join me, then you both can die!" she yelled before charging at Aime' from behind with an elven dagger.
Since it was not magic, and because he was vulnerable, the blade sunk into his lower back.
Cyrin smirked once again when she saw him fall to the ground.
"I missed anything vital but now my poison courses through you. You have twenty-four hours to seek me for the antidote. First you must leave Brynn and make her believe that you have joined me. Then you shall find me in the forest west of Nogueira's village."
Then, she was gone as quickly as she appeared.
