"I will your highness." he stated and then turned and walked to where he had seen Kenji run off towards.
"Kenji? You around here?" he called, not shouting for fear of royals or guards hearing him say the name.

Kenji walked from behind a wagon and smiled.
"I'm here." He replied. "What is it? Did you find her?"

"Of course. She returned to her bedroom. She said she wanted to rest. I don't blame her. This must have been a painful ordeal to her. She tries so hard to seem cold but she just couldn't resist saving you my friend. Of course I might have helped a little with convincing her of that."
Peri smirked.
"Would you like to go inside and wait by her door with me?"

Kenji shook his head. "I know... but I shouldn't go and see her."
He looked up at her window and there she stood peering down at them sadly. "I've caused her enough grief..."

Peri rested a hand on his shoulder.
"I didn't mean it like that Kenji. I'm sure she felt a relief when she saved you from that noose. It was one less worry on her mind." he smiled. "And thank you for the advice while we were down in the dungeon. Without you I'd be stuck down there still as well."
Peri looked up towards the princess with a smile and then back at Kenji.
"She really is a good girl once she lets ya get close enough ain't she?"

Kenji smiled and nodded.
"I know. And that's not what I meant." He replied.
As he turned around to walk away he turned to Peri. "She used to have a smile that could light a room... before I messed it up." He frowned, walking away. "Stay with her for me, she's better off."

"Kenji, promise you'll come and visit alright? Even if you made a mistake, it can be forgiven no matter how serious it was."
Peri smiled and waved.
"I have a feeling with your abilities you could easily defend yourself so I doubt you would need one of my light stone animal necklaces. But just be careful. You saved my life. And you've brought the princess closer to her emotions once again. I owe you my friend."

Kenji only smirked and nodded, continuing on his way.

Sora looked down at the two men talking. She frowned sadly as her excellent hearing picked up Kenji's farewell. She closed her eyes and walked to her bed to lay down. She had to get ahold of herself.

Peri watched him walk off. Once he was out of sight, Peri walked back inside the castle and upstairs to the princess' room. He knocked on the door twice before calling through the door.
"Princess? May I please come in?" he questioned kindly.

Sora opened one eye and sighed.
"Its open." She called back, she rolled over so her back was to whomever walked into her room.

Peri opened the door and came in, covering his eyes.
"My eyes are covered. Are you decent m'lady?" he smirked.
He sat across the room from her.
"I know you want your personal space so I won't come any closer if that is what you wish." he stated. "As you saw, Kenji is leaving. He feels guilty for some past mistake. I'm sure he'll be fine though."

The black haired princess curled her right hand into a fist. She wanted so desperately to reach out to someone, but she knew in the end she'd hurt them anyway. May as well not even get close.
"Fine." She mumbled, trying to act as though she was half asleep and wasn't paying any attention to him.

Peri sat back against the wall with a smile.
"Sorry to bother you m'lady. I just felt that I should voice my opinion."
He grinned over at her back.
"You are a lovely woman princess. While I do not know what happened to you that made you decide to distance yourself from people, I do believe you should at least reach out to one you can trust. Since I'm here to protect you from any threat, I gladly offer my shoulder to cry on. Without having someone to vent to the pressure and stress can build until you cannot handle it anymore. At least that's what I've seen in my experience."
He continued giving her a smile as he sat against the wall with one knee curled up in front of him and the other laying sideways on the floor of her room.

Her eyes shot open at his offer. She wanted to turn over and run to him to cry her eyes out and tell him everything. But she couldn't... and wouldn't. She refused to be so easily undone by some mortal man who truthfully hated her and was putting on a very believable act.
"You hate me, I know it. I'm not stupid, fool." She growled, not facing him. "You hate me for destroying your home and sending your children off. Admit it." She taunted him cruelly.

"There's no need for name calling. I do not hate you as a person m'lady. Only some of the choices you have made. The house can be replaced. The children are irreplaceable but as long as they have homes with a roof over their head, I'm sure they will be fine. It's not like they could have any worse of a life than with me. Living off of gratuities from neighbors, freezing in winter, no mother figure, no toys to play with, and no acceptable clothing."
He sighed thinking about it.

Suddenly the princess cracked a pure smile. Simple and sweet, almost awkward on her normally angered face. She sat up and turned to him, her smile fading into a small smirk.
"Come with me." She spoke coolly. "I want you to see what I've done to your precious children."
Her voice held a dangerous tone to it, as if she'd done something horrible to them. In fact, looking at her, you could just imagine the kinds of cruel things she'd done to the children.

He stood and prepared to follow her.
"As you wish your highness."
He opened the door for her and waved for her to lead the way.

She walked down the darkened hallways and down the stairs. She grabbed a torch from one of the holders off to the side and continued on.
She glanced back to see if he was there. She wondered if he was worried.

Peri kept a cool yet serious demeanor. He wouldn't let his temper be riled again by this girl. His friend from the dungeon would have told him the same thing. Kill her with kindness were his words.
He kept up with her, stepping at the same pace as her.

She paused a moment and waited for him to catch up with her.
"So tell me... which were you more attached to?" She questioned, an evil glint crossing her eyes.

"I loved them all equally m'lady. A father doesn't play favorites."
He turned to her, noticing the evil expression on her face. He knew it was a facade to get him to distance himself from her. It wouldn't work. No matter what she had done to the children, he had to remain calm and deal with the situation coolly.

She stopped and opened a large door that lead outside. As soon as she was out, she continued on.
Soon all the walking led to an old decrepit house. She opened the door and let him in first. "Turn on the lights... and look in all the rooms. I'm going to bed." She turned and left.
As soon as she was far enough away, she turned and smiled happily. She had done nothing to the children. They were safe and sound inside the old house, which was remodeled inside to make it more comfortable for the young kids. They had as many toys as they wanted and they got excellent meals day in and day out. They were practically living like royal... and all of this was under the princess' orders.
But Peri didn't know until now.

Peri recognized the old house. He thought it had been destroyed. Peri reached his hand out to the door but despite his own facade, he hesitated. He had no idea what would be waiting for him on the other side of the door. He knew he would never find out until he stepped through that doorway though. After a few moments of hesitation, he pushed the rickety door open and was surprised by what he found inside. The entire interior had been remodeled with far more luxurious items than he could ever afford for the kids. There were toys lying on the floor. He wiped his face with his palm and sighed.
"The first time they get treated special they get spoiled. Leaving toys out like this. I'm going to have to lecture them." he spoke out loud to himself.
He walked upstairs to check all of the rooms. Sure enough they had all been remodeled for comfort and he saw all of the children unscathed. In fact they looked better than ever. He didn't want to wake them so he quietly tip toed into each room and left one each of the toys next to each child. He checked all of the rooms and did this and sighed as he snuck back downstairs.

The vampiric princess made her way to her room. She'd worn no shoes and now her feet were covered in dirt. She could have sworn she'd stepped on a piece of glass earlier, but it was healed now.
She fell upon her bed and began pretending to be asleep. She wanted to hear what Peri said when he got back. She secretly hoped he was pleased.

Out of force of habit, Peri made sure to close the rickety door behind himself. He made his way back by memory to the princess' room. It took him about 10-15 minutes to do so. He didn't know exactly since he hadn't stopped to look at a clock. He made sure to enter quietly and closed the door behind himself. He noticed the princess just laying atop her sheets on her bed.
He cautiously walked over to the bed side and gently pulled the covers over her without a word. He didn't want to take the chance of waking her with his voice. As he turned away, a single sun-bright tear was shed. It was wiped onto a stone section of the floor. It solidified and gave off a dim glow as it lay on the stone floor.
