It didn't take long. After another few minutes he and the three guards were tossed head first into the cells. Peri smiled as he recovered and sat against the wall of his cell.
"This princess is quite the interesting one." he spoke to himself.
It didn't take long for Peri to get bored so he approached the cell bars.
"Guard! Guard! I'm hungry! When do we get fed the gruel in this place?" he yelled.

"I'm under strict orders not to feed you." The guard spoke flatly, ignoring him afterwards.
"The princess... is so cruel." A man spoke on the corner of the cell next to Peri. "But... she's not to blame." He coughed harshly and then went silent as exhaustion took him into a deep sleep.

Peri smiled as he sat back in his cage again. If they were truely going to drag him to a torture chamber, he would need full strength to survive his ordeal. He found himself missing the children he lived with.
"I hope they don't try anything foolish." he chuckled. "They're the type to rush in here and try to rescue me."

"The princess ordered a raid on your house. Its in ruins now... the children were taken someone else. I'm not sure where, the princess wouldn't say." The guard spoke calmly.

"What!?" Peri gritted his teeth. "Guard. Let me out of here or something bad will happen to everyone. Did you hear me!? LET ME OUT!"
Peri began shouting.
"If those children received even a scratch......!" he began trying to shake the bars.

A low snicker was heard from the top of the stairs leading down into the dungeon. Sora walked in and smirked at Peri. "Well well... I guess someone told you about my idea." She pouted mockingly.
"And no... I'm not releasing you." She glared.

Peri backed away from the bars, anticipating an attack from one of the guards to protect the princess.
"Why would you do that to orphans? They have nothing to do with this!" he yelled at her. "People like you don't deserve to be royalty. The only thing you deserve is to be hung!"

Her eyes flashed red for a brief moment before she held her stomach and threw her head back in laughter. Soon it died down and she smirked at him. "You may be right." She replied.
"I do what I want because nobody dares stand up to me." She shrugged matter-of-factly.

"Give me the chance and I would stand up to you and your entire army for those children and the villagers you constantly oppress!" he shouted. "Until you let me out of here I refuse to do anything you say! Torture me however you like! My pain will be nothing compared to the pain you inflict every day on the common folk! Until then..."
He gave her the middle finger.
"Go sit on your laurels pretending to play violin on your overpriced seat and leave me alone."

"You're bluffing." She smirked.
She walked up to him and flicked something at him through the bars. It was vemon from a very poisonous snake, but she didn't get any on him on purpose because she wanted it to be a warning shot.
She turned and left, grabbing her violin up from the floor of the throne room. She began playing it harshly, a very dangerous tune playing.

"Why don't you let me out and let me show you just how much I'm bluffing you overdressed slut!" he shouted after her over the volume of her violin.
He growled at the guard, waiting for him to come into the cage to attempt to silence him for insulting royalty.

No one moved. They were shocked that the princess hadn't come back to kill this man. But she still played her violin in the throne room, pretending to be oblivious to the insult. But on the inside she was cheering for the man in the prison. He couldn't have been more right. She didn't deserve to be called a princess, or even a young woman. She was nothing more than a monster.
"Kill her with love." The man in the cell next to Peri's spoke calmly. He'd awoken from his sleep and watched the princess' actions sadly. He seemed to have his thoughts on other things though.

Peri had heard the man in the adjacent cell.
"How am I supposed to be nice to someone who hurts children with nowhere to go?" he collapsed onto the floor of the cell.
He sighed.
"Damn her." he spoke softer now.

The man chuckled, a harsh cough resounding off the stone walls of the dungeon. "She's not heartless. She's convinced herself she is." He replied.
"Ask her parents if you can be her guard. They'll let you out then." He finished, closing his tired eyes.

Peri sighed at the suggestion.
"How could he guard such a monster? Who would want to come after her in the first place?" he thought to himself.
He then thought of the children. He stood and approached the bars.
"Guard! I want to speek to the Queen and King about employment. When will they be here?" he spoke.

The guard stiffened and looked at the man.
"They'll be arriving later tonight." He replied. "The king isn't accepting any employees... except for a guard for their daughter." He nodded.

"Then I'll have to make due with what is available." he replied. "I'll have to guard the royal bratt."
He smirked and sat back in the cell.
"I'll wait for their return and at the first opportunity, I will opt for the position." he thought to himself.

Later that afternoon, the king and the queen arrived early. Sora was still playing her violin, as she had been for several hours without stopping. Her parents were notified about the three guards and the commoner that were put in the dungeon.
"You would like to see us?" The king questioned calmly as two guards dragged Peri into the throne room in front of them.

Peri bowed to the king and queen.
"Yes your highnesses. I wished to take up the position of being your daughter's personal guard." he stated. "I think you will find my skills to be more than acceptable to assist in protecting the princess."

The king and queen nodded to each other. "Very well then." The queen spoke sweetly.
"You are now Sora's bodyguard." The king smirked. They both knew he wouldn't last, they never did.

Peri bowed once again.
"Thank you very much your highnesses. I vow not to disappoint." he stated.
He turned his head towards the guards with a cocky smile.
"I guess I'll be seeing you two gentlemen around." he spoke to the guards.
He turned towards the princess and bowed once more.
"The pleasure is all mine your highness." he stated and rose with a smile on his face.

Sora yawned and walked away. She refused to show anger or any kind of other emotion other than boredom. She could care less. He wouldn't last either, none of them did.
"Mm-hm..." She shrugged, flopping onto her bed.

Peri followed her to her room.
"Wow, nice room. I wonder where they'll place my cot in here?" he questioned out loud, just to attempt to annoy her.
He turned his eyes towards the princess.
"So your highness, what do you have planned for today?" he questioned her directly. "Horse back riding? Violin lessons? Giving tax refunds to the masses outside the castle?"

"Nothing." She replied flatly, ignoring his antics successfully.
She walked to her window and peered out once again. She remembered seeing this man fighting against the guards earlier that day. "Go off and do what you want. I don't need you here or want you." She glared back at him.

He shrugged.
"You know I can't do that princess. I'm an official body guard now. I can't leave your side and with your personality I imagine you make alot of enemies so there will be plenty of enemies to protect you from." he smiled at her.
